Hondas website says about the 02 Recon: "this year it's even more powerfull". Are they now putting the redesigned head and higher compression piston from the 250EX in the Recon?? It makes sense that they would do this. Anybody know??

Yes, you are correct. They are using the 250ex motor mods on the recon for 2002

In my new 4-Wheel ATV Action magazine.. it says got a bigger carb.. says 22mm.. but i think that is the regular size. And it gets a Oil cooler. What a rip. I want that on mine.

Owning both machines, I can attest that the 250ex has more power.

Not only does it get to speed quicker, the gears are longer (especially the lower gears) - therefore, you're not shifting as much. In fact, you don't need to short-shift the 250ex, it has plenty of power to pull hard to the top of each gear.
