if your going to get a new quad you should get a honda 450es that thing has crazy low end power. although you might wanna consider modding your rancehr, becuase in my opinion its funnier to have a modded quad then a new stock quad. plus if you put some vamps on thar rancher it will look crazy and scare small children.

the best mud quad is a polaris...it doesn't matter which utility you get...everyone says there trouble but when they run right you can't be beat...the older ones are real good too, they have those super powerful two stroke engine...thats just my opinion

scramdaddy400 you better do some reading before you hammer on the new yamaha. It has IRS, locking front diff, more power and tork then the HO. Right now the yahama is the top dog. I wouldnt get one though because I dont like belts. Also I have seen one too many kodiac's crap out once they hit the water. I chose the Rubi because of the tranny.

i would say its a ty because 500 H.O. , kawi650 , and the new 660 griz all have the crappy belt drive , sue they have alot of power but who needs al that power to slip a belt ? id say go with the 450foreman ! or the rubicon , go to highlifter.com and you can see the most popular mud machine on there is the 450! there are unlimited mods you can do to get more power (if wanted or needed) for the 450 !

PLEASE,
stop bragging about how good a 450es or 450s is!I have PERSONALLY witnessed MANY of these ATVs in the mud,and frankly, the limited slip front ends really perform badly in the serious mud and off cambered rutts.Fact be know,Honda 4x4 ATVs have one of the WORST front differentails on the market. They are NOTORIOUS for keeping the tire in the air spinning and the one in the mud doing NOTHING.Honda 4x4s have NOTHING over true 4x4 ATVs in real mud.

If mudding is your bag,I suggust staying away from Honda 4x4s.The NEW Grizz 660 sounds like a winner on paper,as does the new Kawi 650 twin. Both ATVs provide the rider with TRUE 4x4 performance for the worst mudding situations. The Sportsman has proved to be a winner in the mud as well, but is very heavy[697lbs].Dont buy into all this shi- about belt slippage.Come to my local riding area and I'll show you what a properly sealed belt driven 4x4 will do in the serious mud.A properly sealed Polaris 4x4 ATV will go ANYWHERE without belt slippage that the other locked guys do.I know,I've owned two and my belts ARE sealed,I see to that myself.I have never been out done in the mud with either my Sportsman or Xplorer 4x4.

And further,
The 450es or 450s cannot hold a candle to a Sportsman in a drag race either.I have beat my buddie Pauls 00 Model 450s very BADLY in every phase of a drag race. It's your choice, ride em all, than decide.

Leave the honda in the truck. Get a Prairie 650. Get a tube of RTV Silicone. Seal the clutch housing with the RTV. The belt will not slip unless you completly sink the quad. Go out and roost mud on the poor guys that are so blind and brand loyal that they can't see that the competion has passed them for all the dust...
Just be kind and wait untill you get out of earshot before you laugh at them.

I trust a Belt more than I do fluid.

Bill, what made you keep the PSI pipe I thought you got the dyno port instead. How do you like the PSI pipe, I remember when I suggested it to you, and you had a few minor complaints.
