My rear brakes are now dragging a little and in need of servicing. The problem is, how do I get into the rear brake drum? Keep in mind, this drum is the one that is located near the center of the rear axle vs. the newer models were the drum is located inside the rear wheel area. I know there are 2 large jam nuts on the axle. I can get the outer (1st) nut off but the 2nd nut that appears to be holding the cover to the rear drums will not turn counter clock wise no more than about 1/4 turn. When it locks, it locks solid and will not budge any further. Can someone give me some first hand experience on what to do? I need to be riding by the 4th. Thanks

Guess I should have saved the technical questions for another page. Seems all that is talked about here are sport quad mods and more simpler issues like tires.

Here we go. Turn the inside nut toward the rear end. Then turn the outer nut toward the rear end. Then remove the snap ring on the axel that was under the outside nut. Then the O ring on the axel under the coller. Then pull off the coller. Then the tin cover and there you are.
