hi i have a 4trax 90 and i dont know whats wrong with it, its really hard to pull start but eventually it will start. then 1st-3rd gear run pretty good but when it goes it 4th the power just drops and its like its sputtering. then after 20-30 minutes it will just stall but when it stalls it wont start again, we cant even pull it to start it until the next day or so. does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not familiar with that model, but it sounds to me like it could be a valve problem. i had a moto-4 90 when i was little and it did almost the same thing. we had the valves adjusted and it ran great.

i'm doubting this, but you never know, it could also be a fuel problem. The filter in the petcock could be clogged, or the carb could be clogged, robbing the engine from gas. but if it was that, you probably wouldn't make it all the way to third gear untill it quit?

i'm putting my bet on that it is the valves needing adjusted. let me know what it is if you get it checked out

Too lean, or ignition problem- Is the gas old? fresh fuel...( sounds like them older dodge 2.2 litre motor carbs, reborn )

I had the same problem with an '85 yfm 80 I owned years ago, the choke was stuck on the on position. It was hard to start and it would restrict air from the engine causing it to stall out after about 30 to 40 minutes, I'd have to let it cool down completely before it would fire again.

I fixed it by putting in a new choke spring.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I have still got my trax90 and every 2 months the screw in the float where the carberator is vibrates loose and it sputters and doesn't want to run.I bet that is your problem. It would be a good thing to check and see because that just might be your problem.
