Hi-performance: Raptor
Sport: Mojave or 300ex? Maybe even a Polaris Scrambler 400? Seriously consider the Polaris.

How does the 300ex do in the mud? The guy wants something reliable so he can hit the trails and not worry about anything. I want to recommend honda mainly, and maybe yamaha? I don't have much experience with yamaha.

I would say the 250EX it has shaft drive so it's better to go mudding with rather than a quad with chain drive where if the mud get stuck on the chain it can ruin it.

Look into the scrambler 500 its a 4 stroke optional 4 wheel drive to get out of the mud hole dont get ayamaha they blow and the 300ex sucks in the mud

I dont have anything to compare my Mojave to but it really is a great all around quad. Mines a '91 and has a lot of hours on it. Its probably one of the most reliable bikes out. I havent done anything to mine outside regular maintenance and it still runs great. I has a short wheelbase and track but that makes it good in the woods, easy to manuever and it has an easy reverse. It jumps decent but the stock KYB suspension is fairly week. The chassis is holding up great. The brakes are nice as well. You could find one pretty cheap now I'm sure and throw a few dollars into and have a nice quad for general use. I dont know how it does in the mud (not a whole lot of mud in Yuma AZ) but from its wheelbase and track it seems like it would work well.

I would personaly get a Honda Rancher they love mud and you can jump them with out ruining the front dif so think about that one and it is also all time 4 wheel drive.

I would say the Mojave now because it has very good ground clearance. Something that the other machines don't have.

If he is doing 25% jumping the last thing I would suggest is a polaris. The 300ex is light enugh that if you get stuck, it is easy to unstick it. The 400ex is even lighter, so have him ride one of them.
