400EX a sport quad?

bud you missed the point. what he mean't was look how good the 400ex stays with everything in its class. the raptor and DS etc won't smoke the 400ex. sure the 400ex is going to get beat. what do you expect? its 660cc, 650cc, etc vs 400cc. its just like comparing a 300ex and 400ex. sure the 300ex is going to get beat by the 400ex, but not smoked. the 300ex will hang right with a 400ex on a trail any minute of the day, every day of the year. in many situations a 400ex will hang right with those bigger quads. hes saying that if you put a 650ex engine in 4-wheeler frame and gave it good egonomics like the 400ex, none of the others would stand a chance.

well put, you might see the 450 motor put in a atv frame but not the 650 motor. Honda builds handeling machines. When the 250r was built the banshee was out and the lt500 was out both faster atvs. At that time everybody wanted them (honda) to put the cr500 motor in the 250r frame.... Somehow history repeats itself, but hopefully honda will put a big bore thumper out.

Honda built the 250R and not 500R, because its all about sales figures with Honda, its not about handling, yes it is the best handling, but how many LT250's are out there, 10 times as many as LT500's. If Honda cannot sell 1 billion of any particular model they will not build it, sorry but thats good buisness. So look at a new quad from Honda being the one with highest sales figures, and nothing else, sure it may be the fastest or the best handling, but bottom line is whatever they build will have the highest sales figures. So here is the question what would sell more quads 450EX or 650EX, my vote is 650EX as its a bigger number and thats what americans want, sure the 450EX would be a high tech, light, nimble rocket ship but 650 is a bigger number than 450. I am certain that there are a bunch maketing survey's going on as we speak to determine what Honda will be build next, not racing surveys.

Thats basically the same reason why they have yet to build a new honda. The 400ex is still selling more than the rest of the atvs. I dont think you'll see a 650ex, like Andrew Thomas said Honda builds light handeling machines, so the 450 would be more Honda's style. I would be happier to see the 450 motor in a quad frame it would keep the weight down and it would smoke the competition.

The Raptor are having more problems because they arn't even 1 year old look at all the things Yamaha changed on the 2002 Raptor now it will keep up with 400EX's on the trail!!!(the 2002 model!!!)

The DS is big
The DS is heavy[built to last]
The DS is as fast as any other 4 stroke[stock], and I can make them faster than any one else is making any other 4 strokes. Watch for my review in Dirt Wheels Magazine.
The DS is as wide stock as most Raptor riders build theirs to be.

Powerslide a DS &amp; you won't complain about the width.
Buy a Bowflex &amp; you won't complain about the weight.

If the DS is slow and I've never lost a race to another stock quad (including Raptors) Then what are the other quads. REAL slow, ULTRA slow, SUPER slow, maybe just MEDIUM slow???[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
