When is Honda going to make a sport quad?
Im not talkin about a 28 HP little toy that only a 15 YO kid could ride, im talkin about a full size sport machine a Man could ride with 40 HP.
A machine that can flat out haul *** and compete with the competition without the constant disclamer "For a small 400 air cooled quad"
Honda would be my first choice if they made one, but they don't. WHY???

Yea- the atv may be a tad bit underpowered- but drop a 440 kit in there and it's untouchable.

Why did you buy the DS-650? -and not a raptor? The raptor will flat out kick the $hit out of your sorry ds650. Or- let me guess... You are a big ole- fat piece of $hit and the DS-650 is the only machine that could lug your *** around.

I laugh my *** off every time a 400ex tries to keep up with the big boys in the dunes.
Its sad realy, I should feel bad for the little guys.

I was not trying to **** off the 400ex owners, more like trying to get other Honda owners to bug dealers for a full size sport quad.

Eventually Honda will make it, I would like to have one now, not later.

For starters... I don't have any problems w/ other quads, we all ride what we like.

After saying that... my Warrior would stomp the crap out of your DS where I ride. The only thing the DS is good for is dunes. If that is all you ride.. great. For anything else you better be trading it in. The 400EX is a good bike and the only reason I didn't get one was everyone I know has a Warrior, so I knew they were reliable, the 400EX costs a little more, and with the places I like to ride and the type of riding I enjoy, reverse is a WONDERFUL thing!!!

Ride what you like and prove yourself in the woods, not in the chats.

 

Hey, Bring your heavy DS to where I ride...I have a feeling my 416 might shut you up on the merrits of a quad with decent suspension geometry that weighs under 400lbs.

 

You wouldn't shut him up on just the suspension part, my co-416EX friend...If your 416 is anything like mine...

I have drag raced (300+ yds) my buddy's piped/Stage 1 DS-650 and more often than not, I pull his *** along. NO-ONE believes it, until we line up and go head to head--time and time again. For that matter, I can also take my other 2 friend's 430EX's and a LT250R in drags.

So anyways, back to the original post, considering it is now called a SPORTrax, yes, I think the 400EX is a SPORT quad with racing-quality suspension (Honda is nothing but SAFETY), but mid-high-performance engine power. With a few internal motor mods however, a 400EX will keep up with, and in some cases, smoke our bigger bore brothers out there.

just out of curiosity-... how does your 416 beat the 430's? Is it because you can rev faster?

how much did you spend to upgrade to 416? Did you have to bore?- how much was your web cam?

have you raced any 440's?
