So 2 weeks after buying my new 2000 400EX, I put an inch+ gash in one of my rear Ohtsus....I was BULLSHEIT.

I took it to a tire shop, and they plugged the gash FROM THE INSIDE of the tire with a big patch/plug. I have ridden with my tire like this for over a year now, with no problems. I do lose a small amount of air after every ride, but thats better than buying a new tire...

I have three gashes in my Magnum's right front tire courtesy of a rock at Wayne National Forest. We plugged the gashes with nine total plugs and rubber cement. We hoped that this would get me out of the woods. That was over a year ago and its still holding. I did put some slime in the tire to help, but not sure if that did anything. Good Luck.

PS I personally wouldn't trust a patched/plugged tire for a long ride in the sticks. I mostly use my Magnum for close riding now that I have the ex.

Two options:

1) Take it to the shop and get it done the right way, i.e. plug, patch, etc.

2) Get a new one. Nothing is as trusty as brand-spankin new.

Good luck!

both on my 18in tamers have intertubes in them! they have holes everywhere! they are in need of replacement now because they are bald but i never had anyproblems w/ the innertubes. they didnt make it wobble or hop or anything stupid like that and i ride lots of paved roads (which it prolly why they are bald hmmm... the burnout contests dont help either) but i suggest a big *** patch or an innertube! run em till their bald then keep them for the burnout contests (which im doin w/ the old tamers!) get ylur use out of them and then get bigger better tires!

Well when i had a one inch gash in my tire it happened to be on the sidewall. I took it to a shop and they said they couldnt fix it. Then i had to go buy a new one for 80 bucks.
