How good are biggun exhaust systems? I am thinking about buying one for my honda 250ex. Biggun's website said that they add four horsepower. Has any one got one, how do they sound, and can you feel a big improvement in power? Thank you for any information.

I thought that somebody would have a biggun exhaust on a honda 250ex. What other pipes do you honda 250ex owners have.

i dont have a 250ex. but i know many poeple with big gun systems, and they actually have less horse then stock pipes. they have a deep sound but that the only thing, and i wouldnt get one. #1 there expensive and #2 dont has that much power. I dont no if they make a white bros e-series pipe for the 250ex but if they do go with it. its the best pipe.

honda250ex~

I don't know where mudmanatv4x4 is getting his info from but here's my thoughts.

I own a 2000 DS650, I installed the Big Bun Complete. While I had some issue with the finish of this pipe, I didn't with the power gains. It added a few HP on the top end but a whole lot more in the mid-range. Stated mid-range power gain is 10hp from Big Gun & I can blieve it. Now I don't know about the 250X spec's, but I can tell you this. It's not the best or worst, nor is it the cheapest. It may be the loudest & you can't go wrong with Big Gun.

Check your cash, read, read, read - then buy a pipe YOU want.

Good Luck

i am getting my info based on the 400ex pipe shootout in atv sport. every pipe was dynoed and the big gun lost a horse power compared to stock. i dont no if this is the same for every quad.

Be careful about what you read in the magazines! The test from Dirt Wheels was a slip-on test and was based on a 400EX. The actual gain from a Big Gun complete for your quad is 2.5HP. This is about the same for most of the top of the line complete systems. You could buy a Sparks full race which may give you another horse or so, but it will be non-spark arressted and VERY loud. On my personal 440EX the big gun complete showed about 3.8 HP over the stock @ the rear wheels on a DynoJet Dyno. There have been some a little better (made for a totally different application) and many alot worse. The Big Gun would be a very safe investment for your quad.

On the shootout the only ones to beat the big gun where the E series and sparks. The dmc actually lost hp across the entire band. I found the big gun not as loud as the eseries and it was cheaper, looks better with the jet hot coating, and also a perfect fit. I highly reccomend the race series big gun.

"Big Gun Exhaust: This system fit like a glove, and it is also one of the most attractive. It sounded rather loud, but loud in a cool way! Felt powerful and torquey, but so did a lot of these systems.
The Big Gun exhaust didn't add significant increase at the top of the hp curve, but it did show pleasant gains versus the stock system in the midrange. Our jetting was right on, showing an air-fuel mix at roughly 12.8 to 1. "

Stright from the online article that was published in the atv sport mag that your are refering to. Also here is the link online to read about the rest.
