Billybadass. Im curious as to when you were at the silver lake dunes. If you were there the weekend of July 13th or so you were NOT getting beat by only one 250r on alky. In fact, I know some FAST guys at the dunes there.. In fact.. i probably know the guy that was whooping you. If you were there the weekend of july 13th, im guessing i put the smokes to you at least once.

i was in silverlake from the 26th to the 29th of july and having a longer swingarm will make for better launches. because it keeps the frontend glued to the ground while doing a
second gear launch. my friend was up there on a 416 400ex and could do a second gear launch because his swingarm was too short and he kept wheeling off the start. maybe i am wrong but my understanding is that if u have a longer swingarm you can rev it even higher off the start and lean back even more for traction because you know the front end wont be coming up. if i am wrong please explain to me the flaw in my understanding. by the way my quad and a shift crossbar pad, blue and white plastics, original seat, and a large number 9 on the front.

I was doing mid 9s @ 71-74 mph, depending on the wind, but this is with a motocross set up, the only prep is more air in the tires. Some bikes run into the 6s at 95 mph, but these are specialized machines, mostly banshees.

About the swingarm thing.
I'm sure the ground itself has a large part in it, but my DS is kinda long. The front usually won't come up, but the back tires break loose easy you can't sit over them more.

I got it about 3 months ago, I tore it down and found it was ported, bored 30 over, stock carb, boyseen reeds, FMF pipe and silencer, K&N filter and a CR head gasket. So it is pretty worked over. My gearing is way low, if I drag it again I have to gear it higher.

your right, the front end being heavier would make it stick to the ground, but that takes away weight from the rear end, and it also makes you sit farther forward... so you get less traction, and in my book without traction you dont have anything. and when you sit on the line with the engine revving higher will only make the tires spin more when you let the clutch out.

if your motor is built, a longer swingarm will for sure make launches in the sand easier, as instead of trying to keep the front end down (possibly letting off) you can just keep it hammered.
