You want to know the cold hard truth?
If you dont have much spending cash you arent gonna get s#it. You might get a nice basketcase and not have the $$$ to fix it up.
A 400ex costs alot innitally, but the money you save on repairs/etc is worth it, they ride great stock, good rides..
You want a banshee? Try one... they are expensive to repair but nothing beats the *ummph*, you must do preventive maintaince on it to keep it in good shape.
Basically, you wanna go fast, you gotta dish out the cash.....
If it were me, with the money you have, I'd buy a blaster and hop it up, or a basketcase banshee or 250r... its up to you.. if its junk dont buy it... whatever you decide on take it for a nice good LONG ride, if it breaks down run, if it keeps tickin buy it.. Are you getting 50' airs on the 250x??? if not that KEEP it, ride it until the machine is overwelmed by your ability... Then upgrade.. If you are stuck on getting a new machine keep the money in your pocket until the *deal of a lifetime* comes along....

KKKILLER I know what it feels like. I got a 300ex that I can use all of its abilities almost right up. The shocks are desent and don't bottom until about 5 feet of air. You say your making $15o bucks a week thats plenty to get shocks with in just a few weeks. I wanted to sell me 300ex too and get a 400ex until last night. I went to the fair and watched the flattrack racing. It was awesome. I saw a 250x (it must have had some mods I know it had a pipe) it won the open 4 stroke class. Beat 3 raptors and 3 400ex's. I also saw a 300ex beat a 400ex. It had a supertrapp pipe. The 300ex/250x has great potential with some engine mods and a swaybar for flattrack racing. I say keep the x get some shocks and dump in a 330 kit after the shocks. You don't want to sell the x get a junky 2 stroke and havta put all new lower seals in and wish you've kept the 250x. Take your time and make a good decision.

Im sorry to say that the 250X/300EX cannot compair to the 400EX on a track.
(or anywhere else for that matter.. oh, exept reverse)
There is a thing called rider ability. The riders on the 250X's and 300EX were obviously much more experienced at racing.
HOW and WHY would the 300EX be better on a track? more power? dont think so.
better handling and suspention? um, no.
(not saying the 300 is a bad quad.. not at all. but because you saw a better riders<s> on 250X's and 300's beat inexperienced 400EX riders, dont get a wrong impression about them.

I didn't say it wuz better. No I just got the impression if some1 put a little money into the 300 and had an awesome rider you don't need a big bore quad always. I know the 400 and rapotor are faster, but not with a sucky rider.
