i have a fmf megamax2 and if i run it with all the disc's and the quietcorw its not loud at all plus if you carry a allen wrench you can take out the quieting core and the disc's for more performance thats what i have to do sometimes when i ride in certain places

Well jfboy, there really isn't a quiet exhaust. There are some more quiet than others, but nothing like the stock system. The FMF MegaMax II is probably one of the quietest I've heard. You may also look into modifying the stock system. Check with Gabe (86atc250r) about that. Good luck.

I modified the stock one, and if you're looking for extra power gain with the least amount of noise increase, that's the way to go. In fact, if you lined a non-modified stock system up with a modified stock system, it would be very difficult to tell which one is which by noise only.

White Bros E-series with the quiet core is stock quiet...as is the FMF powercore IV with quiet core. Prob is, when you restrict the airflow that much (using quiet cores) you LOSE the benefits of the aftermarket pipe.

Unless you are going to re-jet and do internal motor mods, DO NOT bother buying an aftermarket pipe. The stock header/pipe is perfect for the 400EX, and you wont get more power buy slapping on a "quiet" aftermarket pipe.

On the other hand, if you re-jet and go with a standard WB E-Series or Big Gun normal/racing exhaust (for example), you WILL see some power increases, and faster revs, but expect the sound level to be MUCH higher.

I run the new FMF powercore 4Q muffler and fmf powerbond header pipe. Its pretty quiet and the combo gives a ton of throttle response and power. Just putt in a high gear around the residential areas and then let it rip when you get to the riding area.
