I have a 250X and every time i go in water it sputters and then dies , it does this in 10inches of water and up and if i go fast through water . i have taken the drain plug out of the air box and i run it with the lid and it ALWAYS stalls when i go in water . I have to cross a river eery time i go riding so i really need this fixed . thanks

Check your carb overflow vent, or it could be something electrical, but I doubt it. Also, try putting some electrical contact grease on the spark plug terminal.

my 250X always stalls if i hit more than about 8 inches of water going any faster than mid range in 4th gear. i'm getting aroung to waterproofing the electrical system, but i think the main reason for this is just plain crappy wiring system, i'll let you know how it works after i waterproof it.

My 300ex did too so I put an Outerwear water repellant filter cover on and pulled the drain plug outta the airbox and it does fine now. I also put a little water proof grease around the plug cap.

I have a 250x also, although i have never encountered this problem, since ive been fortunate enough to keep it out of the water, but it sounds like your carb over flow tube, the electrical system shouldnt be a problem cuz there arent any wires 10 inches off the ground, they are all higher unless you are hauling ace into the water then maybe some gets splashed onto the electrical system....... well thats my input, i dunno if it helps or not but there you go...

i m going to try putting some greese on the spark plug and hopefully it will be fine . the filter isnt getting wet so i know that isnt the problem . when im going through 10inches of water . BUT last night i sunk the back end over the seat and it wouldnt run so either water got to the filter OR water got into the motor through the pipe .
