I feel your pain recondude. As a summer mechanic I know how frustrating your situation is. I'm not familar with the Recon's rear end but if it is easily accessible you might want to try a large pair of vice grips. That works sometimes and doesn't take much effort to try it. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to get a hammer and chisel to take it off. Make a notch in the head of the bolt with the chisel then when your notch is deep enough, hit it so that the bolt will turn. This method rarely fails. Good Luck!!

I suggest using a pipe wrench, but first heat up the nut with a torch so it gets kinda soft then use the pipe wrench to get her off. Dont heat it up too much or it will get too soft and melt
Good Luck

You can also with a buffer(thin blade) make a slot in the middle of the head and then use one of those "impact driver"..... put a flathead bit on it and hit it with a hammer.....

By "impact drive" I mean a big screw drive that you hold with your had while you hit the top of it with a hammer..... When you hit it.. it slightly turns counterclockwise... unlocking that nut.... It's a good tool cuz it cant strip the head of the screw/bolt cuz at the same time it turns... pressure is applied to the screw/bolt...

Find your local Snap-On man and buy a "twist" socket from him, They have backwards cut teeth that are very sharp and bite into the nut when you back it up, I have a whole set in my box at work and man have they saved me some heart ache.
