Is a limited slip 4x4 REALLY that much better than 2x4?

Minehunter, so does that mean that horeshoe-bend hill (being a 6% grade) is only 6% as steep as a 45 degree angle? It sure seems steeper than that!! Anyway I know my machine would'nt climb anything steeper than 45. The only time I ever climb anything steeper is when i'm going up a hill and hit that almost-vertical two foot lip that puts you up onto the fire road. What a rush. But momentum is the only thing that saves your a$$ there!!

A 6% grade comes out to 6 feet of slope for every one hundred feet of road.

a hummer can climb a 90 degree wall up to 22 inches tall. that is stock with no lift or anything. that is pretty good. big price to pay for that though....

I wouldn't consider that climbing. A standard family sedan will climb an 90 degree wall that 8 inches high. They're called curbs. When you have a tire thats 32 inches tall and an approach angle like that you aren't really climbing it as much as just going over it. You have 22 inches of ground clearance. So if the wall were 23 inches you would high center.

Another point while at at it is this. Have you ever seen where in a gravel pit where the conveyor dumps the dirt making a large pile. The natural angle of that pile of dirt or gravel is 45 gegrees. It is just that gravity and friction reach a balance at that point. That's all for now, goodbye.
