TRX'S OVER RULE 400'S

The 400's are new. No modifications, no wear, no maintenace. Just break it in and ride.

With the TRX's you are always cautious with the frames, bearings, bushings, top end, bottom end, brakes, whatever.

There is something to be said about buying a new quad.

Granted, the TRX are great machines, but how far off are the 400EX's? If you couldn't have a TRX, what would you own?

I ride with two guys with highly modified TRX's and they both want an EX because it is new and tight. And you can ride it for hours before you get tired.

Personally, I don't want a TRX. I want to ride, not fix, repair, or maintain. I will probably sell mine in a couple of years, and if the Honda is still the best bike out there, I will just buy another.

I KNOW MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE BOUGHT
400'S THEIR IS ABOUT 15 OF US THAT RIDE
AND RACE TOGETHER THE GUYS WHO OWN THE 400'S HAVE ALREADY SOLD THEM TO BUY TRX'S. BECAUSE WE BLOW THEM AWAY.
I KNOW THIS IS STICKY SUBJECT BUT DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY OPINONS.

Please elaborate.

Apples to apples,Were these races stock to stock.Moded to moded.Being that the R has had over ten years of r+d To get as fast as it can posibly go.And being that a 250cc two stroke is equal only to a 500cc four stroke because of it's fireing order.Your asking a tall order from the EX.

Trx250r out of the crate hp,40
400ex out of the crate hp,27

Can the EX surpass the R,What year is this,oh yea 1999.All the r+d for the R is done.It just can't be made to go any faster.On the other hand,r+d is just begining on the EX.You may be faster,,,,for now?

Why just last month I was chasing around a 86250r and pressuring it....To get out of my way.Yea they are verry good,but they can be beation.A week later my engine seaized.(Bad main bearing cage)

Spec
1986 trx250r-stock with boyston reed valves,FMF low end header pipe/with repacked silencer and K+n filter.20 inch shredders on rear.(stock ohsas kept breaking the beads)

Spec
1999 400ex stock with LRD header+slip on carb rejeted dyno needle on third notch,pilot drilled from 38 to 42,main jet 170,holes drilled in air box with stock filter,XCT tires all the way around,front sproket droped one tooth.

If you want me to I will compression test the R to make sure it is running right.

Would'nt a better title to the thread be R's over EX's (or vise versa)? Techincally, ins't the 400 called a TRX400EX?
