I just recently replaced the clutch lifter arm, clutch lift rod, bearing and lifter on my 86 R. But everythingworks fine but it seems that the clutch lifter arm is in an ackward position when the clutch is pulled in. It seems to be 7-10 degrees from being parallel to the bike (front to back) when I pull the clutch in. In other words when I pull the clutch in the lifter arm is pointing almost straight forward. Is this normal? I just seems as though this is not a mechanically advantagous position.

Also I have the lever and cable adjuster maxed out. Could the cable just be stretched out?

I don't seem to understand the problem; is the clutch working properly? Why did you replace the lifter arm? That's a part that usually never goes bad. Did you install the '88 upgrade? Is your clutch worn out (almost)?

Without actually seeing the problem firsthand, the best keyboard diagnosis I can give would be to replace the clutch cable. Adjust the clutch cable on the engine end to somewhere near the middle and take up the rest in the clutch perch...

I'll try to post a picture of the problem.
