What would have to be done to put a 250 kickstart on a 300ex? Is there a gear on the inside of the clutch case? If so all I would have to do is get a 250 sidecase or drill mine and put a seal in it. I'll be putting a clutch in in a few days, so maybe I'll find out.

Cuz it needs a starter and a selonoid. Thats big bucks from honda. A used kickstart assembly would be way cheaper.

GREAT idea bermbanger!! I would rather have a kick than electric anywayz. That way you can get a good idea of how much compression your bike is running. I think someone makes a kit for that, but i'm not sure. It sure seems like they would anywayz.

Look man could you think really really hard and tell me any idea of where you heard of a kit like this? I have searched, dirtwheels, and powroll. I don't wnat to have to split the cases tho so hopefully there will be a gear there when I pull off the sidecase. I'll check out CT and TC racing.

Man I have been racking my mind ever since I replied to your post. I called up my friend that used to have a 300EX, and he said he used to hear people talk about it, but never do it. I cannot remember where I heard about it, but he said he thinks that it won't work. But, if you have time to wait, you can go to www.atvscene.com, and ask ricky stator. I'm sure he will know!

I know it is possible, it just may be hard. If there isn't a gear coming out of the tranny when I pull off the sidecase then I won't do it because I'll have to split the cases and get a 250 tranny. But maybe there will be a gear there. My clutch is supposed to be in tomorrow so I will know soon. I asked CT racing and he said he didn't know and that I should contact

Try talking to Mickey Dunlap at Four Stroke Tech. I'm sure if it could be done, he would know how!!

It can be Done i used to have a pic of a 300ex with a 250x kick start
The problem is that you will need the 250x head so you have the compression realse and the clutch cover because if you drilled your out i know you could never get it to seal right. You also need a gear thats inside the case.
Its not a cheap job.

compression release is for SALLY'S !! I took that stupid thing off my X and I can kick it over like nothing. Unless you're a little wussy mama's boy then you should definatly be able to kick er over , The 300ex has a lower comp. ration the the X so it will be even easier.
