get a barnett clutch ($70) and while you have the cover off go to honda and order the 89 clutch update ($60). Your 250R will love you for it. I just did the upgrade and it works great, much smoother.

If I am not mistaken, which is possible, Hinson recommends that you use the stock clutch plates in order to keep the clutch pull as light as possible.

I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I don't think a difference in plates would affect clutch pull. A different style lever, clean cable, and different springs will.
The 89 update will produce a smoother pull.

the 89 upgrade consists of :
1. a pressure plate
2. a new lifter (it goes on the end of the lifter rod)
3. a bearing the goes between the lifter and the pressure plate, this is the part that makes the difference.

While you are at it you should replace the springs and the cable. Also you might want to take a look at the lifter arm. The main reason I went to the 89 upgrade is that the ball behind the lifter would seize to the rod. The rod would then start spinning and eat up the edge of the lifter arm.

Service Honda list these parts as 8, 10 14, and 24.
The total is $50.58 plus shipping. If you have an 86 you can use the same lifter rod(#14) and save $9.14.
