I've already done the DynoJet kit , it was a great help, but they still don't make a K&N filter...why???? Anyway, I'm needing references, sites, anything that will give me the information I need to get more performance from My bike. I love it but after putting 1200 miles on it the last month I'm getting tired of the available power & would like more. ANY and all help will be greatly appreciated.

What is the Dyno-kit and where did you get it? So it made a noticeble difference in low end power?

I think FMF makes a Megamax II pipe for the Rubi. I have these on a Rancher and Recon and they are a big improvenent over stock. Hope you saved your jets from the DynoJet Kit!

jkeirste, go to: http://www.dynojet.com/ it's explained best in there. I have more power at all speeds but a lot more near the top.

YZGUY, I keep everything for future ventures. I even have all the stuff from my Wolverine that was stolen. Last time I looked there wasn't anything from any of the pipe makers, but I'll try again, thanks.

Check www.fmfracing.com, they do make a MegaMax II for the Rubicon. Like I said, I like mine on the Rancher and Recon! Also, call K&N. They might have something in the works for the Rubicon, or they may have an existing filter that you can adapt. They're pretty good about keeping up with new models, and this will help them realize there is a demand.

Thanks YZ, I found it on their site, I'm not sure how I missed it before. Do they make much power difference for the money? and how quiet is it with the core installed(deer season).
I've talked to K&N several times with absolutely no response & after two years I expected "something" to be in the works. I guess I'll be ahead of most people with a jet kit & muffler until someone else makes something. I can't even find a full length belly pan for the beast. I want a bigger carb to replace the 33.5mm(?), something in the 36-38mm range but I guess the throttle position sensor has the manufacturers spooked(not to mention creating warranty problems).

I appreciate the help.

K&N lists a filter for the Rubi, Cat.# HA-5000. Rocky Mountain (800-336-5437) lists it in their catalog also (same #). Keep in mind that manufacturers will sometimes list stuff that is still under R&D, just to have a # for it when it finally comes out. This shows that at least they are thinking about it! My catalogs are about a year old now, so this thing should be out by now!! The K&N factory is just a few miles from my house. I've dealt with them before on out of the ordinary stuff, and they have always been quite helpful! I would try again.

The FMF pipe made a BIG difference on the Recon. The difference on the Rancher wasn't as great, but still was very noticeable!! I run only 6 disks (you can run up to 12) and the "quiet core". The sound level is reasonable (compared to my piped sport bikes), but certainly louder than stock. Running a greater number of disks will give you more high end performance, and a lesser number will give more low end.

did the pipe on the recon make a big enough difference to lift the front end from a stand still just by laying on the gas?

I tried to get the K&N again, been checking every two three weeks the last four months, still no filter. The number has been on several sites but the factory doesn't have them available yet. I would guess the improvement from the muffler would be more noticable with the bigger CC machines(?), but it's probably more to do with the efficiency of the factory set up, some ARE better than others. I hate asking this again, does the "silent core" insert really do the job or is their definition of "stealth" closer to an F111 roar(not really very quiet).
The factory muffler has an annoying loud sound, not a very good tune at all.

pyro-I'm heavy, so I even have a hard time doing a power wheelie on the 400EX. If traction is good, the front will do a little jump even with me on it.
