I have a stock 88' 250R and I NEED Some new sprockets and a chain. I am getting a 520 O-ring chain and some sprockets but I wanted to ask some of you guys what a good ratio for an R would be? I ride trails and I hit jumps and drag race , but MOSTLY trails what do you think a good ratio would be ??? I like the stock but I might like to go alittle faster up top. Thanks Zeebo. Killer,

I like to run 14/38 on my R for the local supercross track. That is just a step above stock 13/39. There is another local MX track in our area (wide open and fast) that when i start racing it, i will run 14/36. Personally i love the feel of the 14/38, you dont lose hardly any low, and gain alot of mid to top. Also, if i were you i would spring for good sprokets and chain. I would reccomend Krouse (Sidewinder). Or Regina for the chain. They are the two front runners (IMHO) of the high performance chain industry. Hope I helped you out, Clay.

Yes you have, Thank you! I found out someone changed the gearing to 13/38 I plan on going either 14/38 or 14/36. I will probably buy both and then see which one I like better. Thanks Zeebo.

Ok heres the deal I ride mostly trails BUT !! Where I ride there are some dirt roads and right by my house there is a 1/3 mile airplane feild where I drag race cars and I would like more top end just alittle more top end. I have a 13/38 now but i will get a 13/36.

I would go to a 14 tooth front. I liked it much better and didn't lose any low end. I would do that if i were you. Thats just my .02 though.
