99 Foreman ES Electrics fried ???
#1
I'm looking at buying a 99 Honda Foreman ES ATV, unfortunately the lad just put a new battery in that was wrong battery and, it was reverse polarity and .... a quick few sparks was enough for him stop...but .. now with the old low battery re-installed and the atv started by the re-coil, the electrics are fouled? The REVERSE and NEUTURAL indicators now remain on, the Electronic Shifter does not work...etc. He would rather just lower the price and get rid of it...so.. I need to know what the worst case scenerio is if I have to repair as he is not interested... I checked the fuses in the fuse box but all are ok.
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks
Mike

they are very expensive to rectify
.............start looking at thhe black obx in the middle under the front mud guard......where all the wires go in and out
if that is fried.........be sure to be sitting down when the price is quoted

Are we talking (in Canadian Funds) $200, $500, $1000 or $1500 ?? Worst case could it be CDI box? Reg? Stator? (I'm ignorant)
Is that the regulator?? He had indicated that previously all electrics were fine prior to this once started with the re-coil. Now no electrics other than the constant Neutural and reverse light...even when put into gear mannually?
I haven't bought it yet..

was about $500 USD ($1000NZD)
was under warranty, on my parents farm.........i don't know the bike so dunno what exactly it was
i'm more ignorant than you when it comes to new hondas
the system runs separate to the rest of the bike.......so u can still shift when it dies.......but electronics/plastic....and cow excretions and mud...are not a truely robust combination.......dad will never buy another ES.....he complains of slow shifting....to slow to get to reverse.....
i show no interest in the new honda ES utilities.........however i do like the 400 4x4 and 450s
