I'm thinking of getting a rancher for my wife and wanted to have an idea of how well it moves. Can it beat a warrior, or any other quad? If not how close. Anyone line anything up with the rancher.
Thanks for the help

The rancher is a good middle of the road machine but it will not beat a warrior.I did see a test a while back comparing it to a big bear and a polaris 325.The big bear was a tiny bit faster but barely.I have a Kodiak and it will beat a big bear pretty easily. The rancher did beat the polaris.
1988 big bear
1995 wolverine
2000 kodiak

The 2X4 Rancher is surprisingly fast, particularly on the top end. It wouldn't beat a Warrior on flat ground, but on the trail, it handles every bit as good as a sport machine. One magazine compared its handling to the 300EX, and I would agree.

The 4X4 has a reduction gear, so it will naturally be slower, plus you're spinning all that front end hardwear. The stearing fights you a bit at low speed on hardpack.

On the farm I work on, we have a rancher 2wd. The rev limiter kicks in at 86km/h or 87(54mph) going down a big hill. My friend who has a 4wd, his will go no more than 82(52mph) before the rev-limiter acts. And the 2wd will wheelie awesome. better than a recon. 4th gear catwalks are possible, and so are 5th gear wheelies. Very impressive for a 500lb+ machine with a 2 valve, 329cc four stroke engine.
