I have a honda 300 4x4 and am thinking about installing a winch (T1500 superwinch). Will this effect my handling or suspension because the weight of the winch and mount. Also any problems with this winch.

I thought this was kind of funny what happened to me today... I was riding actually playing in this mud hole that had really deep ruts. Well after a lil while of digging it out, I high centered my 300 with vamps. The water was at least 4 inches over the muffler, I just knew it was gonna drown out if I didnt do something so I kicked it into reverse and rocked it and it would not ocme out same thing in forward still no luck. I was pissed off that it was going to die out and when I jumped off, it floated up and the muffler came out of the water and it never drowned out. I thought it was kind of fun. I was also riding on some clay material on some small hills. It was really fun with my vamps. I could hit 4th gear before I reached the top because i kept spinning, untill I eventually made about 2 foot deep ruts and high centered in those too. Man I wish I had about 4 ft of GC. Just thought I'd tell you guys about this.

I'm still here, guys, just not as often as before. I don't know what happened to most of my old messages, but I've changed internet servers, and I have a new Email address.

My red 1997 Honda 300 4x4 has 12x7 steel wheels with Bi-Claw tires. The front shocks are Works Performance, the rear shock is stock, but with a modified mount to provide more ground clearance, more wheel travel, and softer action. It has a Maier plastic skid plate, the seat has been recovered with a 3/4" pad and a 3/4" wrap, for a 1-1/2" increase in padding and width. The starter relay ciruit wiring has been modified to allow starting in any gear. The carb, carb jetting, and exhaust pipe are stock, but the engine has a Powroll 313cc Big Bore kit. When reassembling the engine during the Big Bore kit installation, I used a thin thread of hi-temp sealant instead of the cylinder base gasket, to raise the compression. Acceleration and low-RPM torque has been significantly improved, to the point where it will accelerate side-by-side with a stock Honda 450ES, up to about 35 mph, after which the 450 pulls away. The overall appearance, sound, mileage, and top speed have not changed from stock, but its increased torque allow riding a gear higher than when stock, in most situations. It does run a bit hotter with the high-compression Big Bore kit, and it now requires 92-93 octane gas, but to me its been well worth it (unlike the Highlifter Big Bore kit for the 450, which I do not recommend).

Honda all the way. I ride with at least 6 other people, I am the only one with a Honda 4 trx, an older 91 350, goes everywhere. They all have Grizzley's, big bear, Kodiak, and two Polaris Trail Bosses, I just walk up, down and through everything, I will never buy anything but a honda, am putting a new 300 on my Xmas list. Yeah right.

Has any one had problems with 24-9-11 and 25-12-12 vampire tires on a Honda 300 4x4. In the way of rubbing on the muffler, fenders, or frame. My second question is, has any one had mechanical problems with highlifters lift kit or a problem the extra hieght of the kit making it tipsy on the hills.
