Just been doing some searching for accessories for my 2001 400EX and found a few people selling "shock protectors". They are covers that slip or velcro over your shocks to "protect" them from dirt and sand.
Do I need them ? Are they worth the money ? If so, what kind should I be looking for ? I found a guy who makes them out of neoprene (wetsuit material) that look like they would work the best.

I have them on mine, because I ride at the dunes and sand can get in your shocks and grind on them. As to "do you really need them"?? NO.. But I feel keeping crap off the shocks will in the long run make them last longer. I would just look for some that clean up easy because you will need to do that. (FYI, find one that will go in the clothes washer that makes it easy) Hope that helps
