300ex or warrior?

well im not sure if you're familiar with the north east... i go to maine and ride there a lot. its a lot of tight trails, mud, rocks, fallen trees, and hills.and i will mostly be riding with 4x4's ( foremans, kodiaks, etc.) We do long trail rides like up small mountains. these rides may last anywhere from 2-6 hours and sometimes 40 mile rides. We dont go very fast so that doesn't matter but its nice for at home and an ocasional trip to the mx track so... which one?

I have never ridden a Warrior, but I do have a 300EX. I will say I love my 300 and wouldn't trade it for anything (Except the new Suzuki ) I will say what any other logical person on here would say, try them both. I will also say that if you are big guy then you will probably feel more comfortable on the Warrior, from what I hear.

The 300EX IS THE BEST TRAIL BIKE there is, and the 400EX is almost as good!! I speak form experience, because I RODE A WARRIOR FOR YEARS, and what a clunker it was by comparison!! The Warrior is big and heavy, and the suspension and ergonomics are poor. I never finished a ride without sore knees (the seat is to low and the bars are to high). Yamaha needs to retire the old beast and replace it with a modern design.
I was riding a technical trail a couple weeks ago. I recalled riding the same trail years ago on the Warrior, and how hard it was to get that heavy thing through the technical sections. If you are on the small side, get the 300. If you are larger, get a 400.

IMHO it's a wash....Power goes to the Warrior, Handling to the 300EX. I'm fairly large (225lb) and the 300EX just isn't big enough and the 400EX lacks a reverse gear. BTW as for reliability, my (stock) 87 Warrior is still going strong (and runs neck 'n neck with 300EX's).
