Which Big 4x4 To Choose?
#1
OK guys and gals, it's time to step up from my Scrambler to a full rec/utility 4x4. My problem is which one do I choose? I rode the Sportsman 500 and 700 and was real impressed with both but not sure if the 700 is worth the extra $1000. I plan on riding the other 3 today, the Grizzly, the Prairie, and the Rubicon. Which one has the most problems and which one seems to stand out above the rest? Please be honest and dont favor one because you ride it. If you have another that deserves mentioning please do so. All that I require is 4x4 and low range.

Kawasaki Just got rid of a Prairie 300, 175 miles on it, and already showing signs of wheel bearing prblems....except for that it was flawless. However even with bigger tires it was always getting stuck due to ground clearence problems.
My best buddie owns the '02 Griz...man what a bike! Power to boot, switchable four wheel drive, can lock all four tires with the push of a button...lots of neet features. Plus 4 wheel independent suspencion for the plushest ride out there.
Keep in mind however that both of these have a common hold back ......the belt! Yes I know its the most common form of automatic out there, but just don't get it wet! Kawasaki has no way to drain the tranny if water gets in, but the griz does, but it doesn't really matter cause you'll need a tow if that belt gets wet or you can burn it up trying to dry it by reving the motor.
Now I prefer the rubicon, plenty of power, good ground clearence, the honda matic Tranny (al fluid here, no belts), plus the honda front end! Honda is the toughest bike out there, just call any mechanic and you will hear the truth. Take a look around and notice how many Hondas you see compared to any other brand. One thing that is bad however is the ride, always rough on a honda, but do you want ride or durability.
I have had others but over all nothing compares to the qaulity of a honda.....I say go Rubicon!
