Hi, anyone know if a on/off switch off a 1986 trx 250r will work on a 1985 atc 250r? Honda no longer makes the switch for the atc.

I would think it would be safe to assume it would work beings as the ATC 250R's (watercooled anyway) used many of the same engine components as the TRX250R

I just replaced my run/off switch with a momentary kill switch on my 86 250R. Just find a button that fits good, I got one at radio shack. It needs to be normaly open. Just put the hook up the terminals of the new button to the two wires and then you hold the button top kill the bike. Thats the way all the MX bikes work.

I am almost positive that they are not the same. I have had many 85 atc's and now have two trx's. I tried to replace the broken trx switch with a spare from the atc, the connections are not the same. If you are going to cut wires, use a CR push button kill switch and a toggle for the lights. My set up uses the CR kill and I turn my lazer star's on and off with a key switch from a Banshee. It fit right in the key switch holder on the billit light bracket. The Banshee switch closes the circut when in the on position. I swapped the little Honda rubber on the Yammi key so it is a clean install.
