got some new stuff for my quad plus a tip on repairing cracks
#1
hey every1. i just picked up a spare set of plastic (which i'm gonna race cut) and a feather carbon carbon fiber gas tank cover. the cover is sweet its really light and it looks awesome cuz its yellow and black. the plastic had 2 mounting tabs broken off on it and a big crack in one of the fenders. the guy also gave me the 2 broken tabs. to what i did was cut off some strips of plastic from the sides of the fenders..then i got a little butane torch thingy. i heated up the plastic on very low heat until the strips were nice and plyable. i took a flat head screwdriver then and pressed the plastic into the crack a little and off to both sides. i welded up that crack real nice. then i did the tabs the same way just about...they were a little trickier..anyways if any1 has cracks they wanna get rid of just use a little plastic and some heat and you'll be nice and set up...
pics will be up tommarow.

Yeah i've done that before except I used a solder gun and used a strip of plastic and melted it on there. Worked great but was really brittle and broke back in no time so I drilled 2 holes and bolted a piece of metal underneath the plastic then covered up the bolts with melted plastic. Now that held and looked great.

I've tried the plastic welding. It holds up ok in low stress areas. If you need a stronger fix check out the link below. It may not look as good but my fixes have lasted for years.

Woodo68, I like the fishing line idea. I've heard of a similar fix by drilling holes and stitching it up with elictrical tie wraps. The fishing line looks better. The tie wraps might hold up better to wear though if its on a fender that rubs against trees.
I carry tie wraps with me in my repair kit. In a bind you can heat up a nail or something, melt the holes and stitch up your plastic for an emergency repair.
