Forgive me for my ignorance, but I have a question.
Being the Ruby uses engine oil to drive the tranny, does it require a special oil or do you just use the standard Honda engine oil? What happens if you don't follow regular maintenance schedules, do you lose transmission performance?
Also is it sensitive to what type/brand of oil you use?

Thanks

Any ATV can be sensitive to the brand/type of oil. Naturally, you wouldn't want to use the cheapest you can find. You also wouldn't want to run straight 50W. Honda doesn't recommend using a synthetic either. Your owners manual should state the viscosity of oil that you should use. It has recommendations for different operating temperatures.

I usually run 10W-40 in warm weather months, and 5W-30 in cold weather.
