Newbie with a major project in mind. (Kinda Long)

Hi all. I have just joined this group with intentions of learning a little more about atv's. I have been riding motorcycles most of my life, and recently have become interested in my buddies four wheelers. I am an avid V4 Honda fan, and would like to find a shaft drive four wheeler to put a V4 engine in. I know I may sound crazy, but, if I have it my way, I will make it work. Anyone have any input as far as motor swaps or does anyone have a descent four wheeler with a blown motor, or maybe without a motor at all. Would prefer a 350 or larger Honda frame. I live in Oklahoma, but would consider traveling some distance or paying freight for the right four wheeler. Looking forward to hearing from you guys. AlteredBeast

Uuummm aren't you forgetting something like transmition? That's a lot of engine and tranny to put into an ATV frame. Unless you chop out the middle of it and weld some new longer frame rails into place. When you do this it'll be interesting to see how it works to say the least. I'd suggest something like a Suzuki LT500 frame or a banshee frame. ATV frames aren't designed to sustain the abuse that an engine like that would put on it. That and the suspension and handling would be severly compromised. Let me know how it comes out! Dave

Only problem with the Banshee an Quadzilla's are that they are both chain driven. I need a shafty. I have been into the final drive unit of my V65 Magna, and from looking at the parts microfiches on www.partsfish.com, cannot see any alarming differences in the final drives of the Honda atv's. Thanks

You are not suppose to post classified adds in the Forums. Also I bet that motor would rip a quad rear end and front end apart It would probably bust those little quad drive shafts in half.Overall I think this idea will not work and will never happen, later on you will probably see why this is not a good idea.

Poeple will think I'm crazy, but it can be done.
First drop the shaft drive and the magna.
If two strokes would have survived the epa, it may have happened!
Well in 85 I owned a kenny roberts special, now used in the banchee.
Thier was another bike most didn't hier of, the RZ-500, also the gamma suzuki's 500.
Both are chain drive and both are compact enough to fit in atv frames.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to get anyone upset about my posting. As far as posting a classified, while I am new to this forum, should not have done it, and apologize. I appreciate your comments and views on this project. Regardless of what some might think, I am going to go ahead with this project. Some may have the opportunity to say, I told you so, but then again, may end up eating crow. Think of all the modern marvels that we have at our disposal today, that many years ago, were dreams of people who were told that it can't be done. I am still looking for input from those who still have an imagination.
