I am getting ready to buy a new rear axle bearing carrier for my 300ex, and I notice that some billet models have a center grease fitting, and some don't have a fitting at all. since the bearings are all sealed, what does a grease fitting do for you?

Thanks,
Lorrin

I think it helps keep the water and $h!t out of there plus that long rod that is in there it probably the reason for the grease fitting.

Having a greasable rear bearing housing is a GOOD thing especially if you ride in deep water (over the housing). I had a rear end on my 250 that I greased after "swimming" the quad and it lasted and lasted with never a problem (I ride in deep water over the knee constantly). If you do not ride in water then it is not much of a big deal. There is no such thing as a sealed housing when you swim them. They are quite resistant but after riding in deep water it is a good idea to shoot a shot of grease in the bearings. The bearing and the housing are NOT cheap if you tear up a bearing from water getting in there.

Good luck and have fun with your EX.
