As most of you may know, I busted my 250R's left case half, and now I can afford to get a new one. I've seen guys in here that say they've bought new halves, and I want to know where they're hiding them!

Service Honda has 87's, and K&K has 86's, but I cannot find an 89! Do they all match up? Anyone done the swap(pre 89's on an 89)?

Thanks for everyone's help. I will be sure to take pictures along the way, and fill everyone in, and yes, there will be more questions soon!

87 and 86 will not work because they have different part numbers but the 88 and 89 have the same part number so i would imagine that the 88 would fit the 89 because they both have the same part number go to rivayamaha and look at the micro fiche and check it out i just check out service hondas web site and it says the left crank half goes for 182 check it out here and type in the honda part number 11200-hb9-771 that i got fromhonda part numbers at rivayamaha i hope this helps and good luck on your rebuild

David,
Call Spruill Honda in Mount Pleasant. Speak with Tim Spruill. He can get you what you need. Tell him Corey Cameron told you to call. See ya at the races.

Hey Corey, long time no see!

I talked to Tim the other day, and his cases are $280 without bearings. I was planning on going with K&K's, because they come with bearings, but the only cases they have are 86's.

Corey, will you be at Badlands tomorrow? I guess I might take the Banshee back up there.

any case half from an 85-89 engine will work. beware that unmatched case halves often do not seal correctly, due to line boring differences. Make sure you check your center gasket, and if it does not leak, consider yourself lucky.

I agree with Dill. From what I've been told, you shouldn't mix-n-match case halves as they are "matched". Unfortunatley,if I were you I would go and get both sides and play it safe rather than having a leaker. Also another thing to consider is where it may leak.Oil is bad enough, but getting an air leak in the actual crankcase will lean it out = no idle and maybe burning her down.Good luck,Jim

I went ahead and ordered one from Service Honda. They were the cheapest.. rang up to $194.44 shipping included. They said it would be here in a week and a half, so I'm pleased. Now all I will have to do is order a seal/gasket set.

Could I run a small bead of high temp silicon around the case seal.. Just to give me a little insurance? Thanks for your help.

I would think you could run some rtv on there but I would put it on thin.I know that on snowmobile cases that from the factory are assembled without, but on any rebuilds I have done on the I always use rtv for insurance.Goodluck,Jim
