Jealous? Yeah right! I could have gotten a 400EX, but I need the reverse. I am 5'11 and the 300EX doesn't feel cramped to me. Heck my dad is 6'3 and he doesn't look to cramped on it. Why would I want something more powerful if I don't use all the power I have now. I can stay with any 400EX in the trails, maybe not wide open, but I can in the trails. So why would I be jealous because I don't have one? I don't need one.

Some people buy quads to have fun!!!!!!! Not to see who is the fastest. I think either or any quad you go with you will be very happy just to own one and enjoy the pleasure they bring. Get the 300ex. It has reverse, it runs good on the trails, there are many hop ups if you want more out of it eventually, and it's fun! My buddy has a 400ex and I have no prob. keeping up with him on the trails, in fact I can go more places than he. However, we don't ride to out run each other, we go to ride and have fun together. Ride both and see what you like.

i gotta go with stebob on this one. it is all about haivng fun....at least it is with me. there is always going to be someone faster or at least someone who thinks they are faster. if you are going to spend a few grand on a new machine, make sure it is what you want. i had an LT250 and an old 250R as a young child (15). those were great machines. i ended up buying an 01' 300EX. i love it. of course it is not as fast as a 400 in a drag, but i have absolutely NO prob keeping up with a 400 in the trails. as a beginner, the 300 may be your best choice. if you plan on racing, go with the 400. but remember, you are a beginner. happy shopping. let us know what you do.

Some people like to have different kinds of fun. For instance you guys may like just riding with friends jusr cruising along. But I and the people I ride with like to go WFO as much as possible and thats fun to me. Another thing we do for fun is Roost all over each other. If you jus want to motor along then I guess the 300 is for you but if you like to jump, go fast (faster then a 300) want power,or need better suspension then get the 400.

Hi there! - this is my first post by the way.

I just gotta put in my 2 cents worth. I think if you buy the 300ex you will wish later you had bought the 400ex. I was going to get a 250 or 300 and decided to get the 400ex after a trip to Sand Mountain in Nevada. Gotta have power! I'm not a guy and I'm pretty little (4'11&quot at that, but I decided I would rather sacrifice reverse than power. I will drag the quad back into position if I have to! (it just takes me a while...)

Also, I am already thinking how to make the 400ex more powerful. Will add white bros pipe, K&N filter and jet kit before much longer. I can just imagine how unhappy I would have been with the 300EX!

Last thought: Some of the guys I ride with have smaller quads and they just hate the fact mine is faster. They are thinking of getting bigger quads now. Tell me boys, is this a male ego thing????

one more thing... I have taken the 400ex on both sand and trails. Either way, i wouldn't want anything smaller. Mojave desert ride coming in a few days. I'm stoked!

Killer250R, there are a few other things, besides the sheer joy of sand blasting your buddy as he desperately tries to start his flooded machine at the bottom of a bowl, that separate us (whacky philistines of the dirt) from them (the tame & tedious set):

We look for tracks with big doubles; they look for burger stands with doubles

We enjoy the sound of a well tuned engine; they think noise is icky

We like single malt; they like chocolate malts

We use magnums; they prefer rimfire

We love Kiss; they've yet to have one

...and the list goes on.
