I did an exhaustive amount of research on the Rubicon before I bought one a month ago and didn't turn up anything at all negative about it, in fact in the two years that it's been out there has almost been no failures. It's proven technology and it's years ahead of anything else out there! I think if any of these problems were common they would have surfaced long before now.

To follow up on my last message.I work at a dealer and in the last 3 months I have replaced 2 clutches these are burning the shoes and are worping the clutch drum,Honda knows there is a problem. One crank/piston/wrist pin -the wrist pin failed do to lack of clearance or oil-the piston was distroyed, this machine only had 20hrs.Just pulled another apart this week and the customer has complained of a rattle in engine,I come to find out that it also will needs a crank and piston, and the really cheap part of this is the pump also failed,I expect that this is what damaged the top end of the engine it had really low oil pressure because of the failure of the pump-less than 10psi cold it should be min 22 when hot!!!

Also to follow up on what I said before I have not had any problems yet with my own but my warranty is up in a couple of days and I am not taking a chance.

Forgive me if I am mistaken douglasss, but the Rubicon has no clutch? I'm sure if you work at a Honda dealership and are repairing these bikes you would know better. So what gives? Are you TRYING to stir the pot here?

I sorry that I have to correct you but yes it does have a clutch!!!
The engine uses a centrifugal clutch, what do you think drives the pump.
The clutch that is use is basically this same as any automatic eg.the 450 Forman. So nothing gives and I am not trying to stir the pot. Check it out for yourself call a dealer tomorrow and see if I am wrong.
