CR250 Cylinder on TRX?
#1
I was just sitting here thinking about the new Z400, and the nicasil coating on the cylinder, and I was wondering if you could possibly put a new CR250 cylinder and piston on a TRX bottom end. If you could, that would be a really wise investment. The CR is coated just like the Z400's, so you would never have to have your engine bored, and all you would have to buy was a new piston. Plus, the newer CR engines have an electronic powervalve.
Has anyone else thought about it? Think it would work? I want some tech. stuff here, not just the Arkansas type "Yeah, I believe you could weld that dern thing on there" kind of stuff. Thanks

Why bother with a puny 250 when you can put a CR500 cylinder on it!! I thought about this when my friend came up the other day on his CR250, but figured if I posted people would just say I am dumb for thinking it, like they did when I asked about the 500/250R conversion. But yea, I am sure you can weld them thing-a-ma-bobs together cletus, go tell your son/brother to come in for suppa! Sorry. check out Mac Racing for info on the 500/250R conversion. I think (forums wouldn't let me say so...) did a review on it, not positive though.

Are you talking about the whole motor or just the 500 top end on the R bottom end? I wasn't aware it would vibrate that bad with the counter balancer. Well this isn't any real Tech answer but It could be done, if someone can put a Polaris 400 topend on a R bottom end, I think a CR top-end would be possible to do.

Thanks for shooting me down Corey
Would it be possible to have a pre-96 cylinder nicasil coated? So you wouldn't ever have to have it bored? That would be pretty sweet if you could get a 250R motor coated at 265. I might've dreamed it, but I thought I saw an ad in Dirt Wheels about it.

my quad now has powervalve and nicasil cylinder... I just gotta put the new engine in...
neways, the easiest cylinder swap is the 250-350 conversion via odyssey top end. They're very much so similar.
as for 250-250, it should be very much so possible, and worth-while.
as for the 500 CYLINDER vibrating more than the 250... LOL! that just made my day! I'll never stop laughing!
