i posted before on which quad i should get in the buying an atv section. i was told to get the 400ex even though i'm a first time rider. i think i forgot to mention that i'm only 5'4. i sat on a 400ex the other day and that thing is like literally four times my size. i'm gonna stick with the 250ex because it's more 'my size' and not some beast i wont be able to handle. hopefully i'll be on this board more often, learning more about the honda's you guys ride.

hey buddy, you'll love it!

I'm 5'-10" and 190lbs. my 400EX is perfect for me, but we also have a 250EX and it is fun too.

the first things I'd do is reverse the front wheels and put 400EX rear tires on it... that makes a hell of an improvement in stability and handling...

lastly, I'd buy a quiet series slip-on silencer, K&N jet kit, and heavier springs for the clutch.

it's the best trail-riding quad I know of

why not try the yamaha warrior? it was my first quad that had a clutch and was very easy to learn on. its not a very big bike either, so u would probably feel pretty good on it.

I am not bashing the 250EX but, I don't think you should buy it. If you think the 400EX is big, then try a 300EX. If you still think that is to big, consider the Yamaha Blaster, many people learn on these two quads. I say to stay away from the 250EX because oncec you learn to ride, you will be craving for more power, better handling, and probably a clutch.

Ya, i just got my 400ex a couple days ago from a maitenace abusing owner, but i got a good deal. I am 5'3"- 5' 6" and it is still great, very nice handling, just if i can get all these problem worked out, it would be the best. Well, have fun on your new quad.

get a 250ex youll love it. if you get a chance to ride in snow it will fly and outrun those otthers. its only under powered in straightaways on trails it rules. 300ex seems to be the odd man out these days.

Don't get the 250EX like Itracerx say's you will immediately want more power it is weak and is a shaft drive.

WAIT !!!! please reconsider!! I am 4'10 1/2 and don't really weigh much...and almost bought a 250ex or 300ex. I am sooooooooo glad i didn't. I am not too small for my quad and you are not too small for it either!! can you go rent one or borrow one?? i think in less than a couple months you will want more power and may have regrets especially if you get the 250!

one more thing...
i am a newer rider too and I learned on a friend's 400ex. it really is a great quad. think i told you before i already want to make it more powerful. I am waiting for a few months then I will do modifications. I am wanting more power and i bought my quad less that one month ago!!!!

just my two cents worth. it's good to buy what you are comfortable with BUT don't sell yourself short in your ability to learn to handle the quad
