Hey guys I got my Gaskets and piston in the other day but anyway, I need to know how to remove all the gasket material that was left on the surfaces of my cylinder. Is there some sort of "Gasket Remover"? Any help appreciated.

I always use a wire brush that attaches to my drill and a razor blade. That has worked the best for me. Good luck.

There are several chemical products out there that you can use. Go to the auto parts store and ask for Permatex Gasket Remover. DO be careful when cleaning the old gasket off your case halves. On real stubborn baked on stuff, try a single edge razor blade as a scraper.

I got all of the gasket material off of the reed cage and cylinder, I used one of those wire brushes to clean your BBQ, but I still haven't got it off the cases yet. I guess I'll have to try out the Gasket Remover but I really don't want to because I'm sure it will get in the bottom end, then I'd be screwed.

Put a CLEAN cloth in the cases. Then CAREFULLY work at removing the gasket. Do you have a shop-vac? You could use it to suck up the gasket "crumbs" as they come off. Take your time, it can be done. I've done it dozens of times.
