Killer I know that. But it takes most cars longer than 1/4 mile to get to top speed. The can still go faster. So yes how fast a car accelerates does come into play.A atv however Can top out in a 1/4 mile most pretty easily.I am sure a fourtrax250 4-stroke gets to top speed in 1/4 mile easily. So my little theory works out.

Indeed, I was suprised at how fast quads can quarter mile myself, even if a paticular quads top speed it's anything to write home about many can be under twenty, even utes. Try getting that with grannies citation or something.

I can do it in 14secs with my 1982 atc 90........ You guys are out of your minds. Just when I think I have heard it all in this forum people are trying to find out how fast a quad will do a 1/4 mile. What next? UNBELIEVABLE. I guess some people are REALLY bored. I guess I shouldnt be so critical, but thats just my nature. Have fun....... Iguess.

i will not believe your 82 atc 90 will do a 1/4 mile in 14 seconds because you -cannot- beat a rubicon and a rubiocon is 20 seconds. what do you mean were bored? its a good question you moron what a ***.

Heh, bored I think not! I believe it's part of testing a machine to confirm spoeedometer readings and similar technical anomolies. This is extremely easy to do here. all the farm fencerows are at accurate 1/4 mile intervals.

I'd say your theory doesn't work. For example, there is no set ratio that MPH and 1/4 time play. I have friends with cars that get mid to low 13's and run 105 MPH to 107/8 MPH range in the 1/4. Then there are cars that will run 100 MPH and and get mid 13's.

Keep in mind that when a car is going for that 13 second 1/4 mile it is accelerating prety much down the whole 1/4 mile. Maybe not the same amount of acceleration but it is accellerating to try to go faster the whole distance of the 1/4 mile.

If the 4 wheeler topped out at 50 MPH by the 1/8 mile lets say that means it's going to be going 50 MPH for an 1/8 of a mile to finish out the run. It won't be accellerating any after the 1/8 mile (in this example that is) so the rate of acceration is going to, at that point, be null. Can't compare a car that accelerates down the whole 1/4 mile to that of something that will top out and not change it's rate of speed for a certain amount of distance before it passes the timing blocks.

Just my $.02 though, I may be incorrect but I hope that made sense.
