Mud to me is nothing but mud.And you will not go rack deep in mud. As far as your pics go I see alot of water. When I get stuck with mud half way up my tires, I laugh at when people say rack deep mud. That is not thick mud that is wattery mud. When it is up to your racks can you pick itv up and make a ball out of it?

Shizzit, I have to agree with you, there is a difference between mud, watery mud, and muddy water.
Texmud, I'm not doubting that you give your quad a hard time, and that it is very reliable, but I have to call a spade a spade.

It just depends on how you define mud. There are an infinite variations of mud. Places like Fun Wheeler Park where a lot of those pictures are of are really sandy water. I am not a fan of that place but ride there all the time. If you want to say that sandy water isnt hell on a quad...ride there and you will see. Its too much trouble for me to ride there. Yes, in real thick mud you cant get a quad rack deep, its just impossible. Call it what you want, but try to follow me through any of it and we will talk then.

I dont ride mine in rack deep mud,but I do work it hard and use it everyday.Seeing the mods texmud has on his ruby and looking at his pictures,I have no doubt the hondamatic tranny will hold up.I love this tranny, its so smooth and versatile.I have heard of some clutch problems, but I believe that is caused from not shifting to low range when needed. When in doubt use LOW.I think you would be really happy with the Rubicon,I know I am.

My Rubicon is the third Honda I have owned and I will have to admit it is the only one that I have had any problems with. When it was still new (200 miles) the Hondamatic went out on the machine. I will say that Honda treated us well and put in a new transmission with no questions asked. Consequently I decided to buy the three year warranty because I was a little gun shy. This Rubicon is hard on gas but the power on this machine is pretty amazing. This four-wheeler is not used hard and is used mostly to check cattle and fields in the spring. Other than the early problems I have been very happy with this unit.
