Top speed for a stock 300ex: 54mph
Top speed for a stock 400ex: 68mph

The 400ex is a whole different motor compared to the 300ex. It's not just a "beefed up" 300ex motor. The power is an increbible difference between the two. However both are awesome machines in my opinion.

Dual Purpose [on/off road] bikes are required to meet federal speedometer calibration standards. ATVs and Enduro bikes are not. That's why most of them read inaccurately.

Also keep in mind that no two bikes off the showroom have the same performance. This has been shown to be true in both ATVs and streetbikes. It's not unheard of to see a 300EX hit close to 60mph. But I think 63mph is a little too far fetched. Maybe if the rider only weighed 100 lbs. and was riding with the wind.
