<< i do the same thing nose dive! sometimes it lands sideways. that really sucks. i think i might go back to a dirt bike. something about jumping a quad just aint right. to heavy. i weigh 215 plus the quad weight. thats almost 600 pounds flying through the air. a bike is much lighter an more controlable. >>
i land sideways all the time! jumpin quads is scarey.

YZguy gave me this link for shock adjustments:

Jumping a 400 is like 2nd nature. If you're having problems, you're definately not doing something right.
You're always going to have an occasional crazy landing, but with a 400 you shouldn't have to try too hard.

redryder01, I'm tipping the scales at 220 astride my not too svelte Bombardier. The weight does make a difference. This beast is alot scaryer to jump than either my YZ250 or 400EX, but it can be done. The payoff is the look on those dirt bike pukes faces as you clear a double.

4 strokes have ALOT more compression braking than 2 strokes do, it may not feel like it, but they do. When you go off the jump on a 4 stroke you need to hold the throttle steady and stay centered if not a little towards the rear of the bike. On my R I just blip the throttle on takeoff and lean a little forward, but I tried it on my bro's 400 and almost died... hehe.

On a 4 stroke you can make the landing a lot softer if you pin the throtle right before you hit the ground. It doesn't make much diffrence on a 2 stroke but on a 4 stroke it seems to stiffen the rear suspension and takes a lot of the load off the front. It sure makes them big doubles a lot more fun, expecily when you over jump them. Beleive me I'd much rather jump long then short anyday...
