He is meaning that you might need a few more nuclear rods in the fuel to get it to move. It will not move you around with much force.

My dad is 6'3" and weighs about 175lbs, he gets around on the 250EX just fine, we used to race them alot, and he was always keeping up in the corners, not on the straights, but in the corners because it steered sharper than my 300EX.

as you can all see, i ride a '94 kawasaki bayou 220, and it sure aint the best atv in the world, but i dont notice it not pulling me around that good. it goes ust fine for me, max speed i can get it up to around 50, so do u still think it would be a lil small for me if the bayou feels fine for me?

I am about 175 pounds and my Recon pulls me around just fine. I would think the 250ex with its lighter weight would pull you around even better.

bwarndog21,
I am going by the experience on my Recon which is like but not exactly the same as the 250EX. The 250EX has improvements in weight(reduction) and in overall handling as a wider track. My sons friend had a 99 bayou 220 which is a nice machine but when it pushed hard or raced around sharp corners or hitting the front end at certain angles or on the normal course of trail riding the front end design (single lower A/arm) of the bayou shows you why the double a/arm front end design of the Honda is better for handling.
All I am saying is if you have liked the bayou 220 you will love the 250EX because the handling characteristics are so much improved.

I'm 5'8" and 215. I really like my 250EX. It has plenty of power for hillclimbing and mudding with me on it. I did 2 things to mine to improve the ride: I made an adapter to raise the bars up and back an inch and I put softer springs on the shocks. The bars caused me to lean forward too much in stock form. Now it is a much more natural position. The softer springs really helped as well. I am very pleased with the machine.

I'm 6'2" and 245 and really enjoy my Recon. I only got 45 MPH (GPS determinied) out of mine on the asphalt but if I changed tires and ran more air pressure I suspect I'd do a bit better I guess I could lose about 60 Lb.s and that would help too but that ain't gonna happen. That's plenty fast for me anyway. The 250ex is about 50 Lb.s lighter than my bike and makes about 10% more power. I guess it all boils down to what are you going to do with it. If you plan to thrash and jump all of the time you are probably going to wish you popped for a 300 or 400 but for trail riding and light jumping you should be pretty happy with it. I don't know about the ex but my Recon will float if need be, but not when I'm sitting on it.

Right on FLCRUTCH. My 2001 Recon is fast enough to get me in plenty of trouble! Jumps nicely too. The 250ex is more powerful, lighter, and has better suspension than a Recon. I'm 6-1 240 and I love that Recon, but I'm always looking for more power. I just don't want to get a bigger quad to have more power because it usually means a bigger, heavier quad to get it. Buy the 250ex, I think you will be very happy with it!
