By the way, my 400ex (when it was stock) was radared at 71 mph. My brother has a new banshee that is stock that clocks at 80mph. Don't believe the speeds that you read in the mag's. I've done some mods now and run with the banshee (dragrace), but don't have hard numbers on it yet!

Gary,

You've inspired me. I'm going to clock mine this weekend, because I can't believe my 400ex actually goes that fast. I'll let u know, but i'm pretty sure it will be under 65mph.

What exactly are you using to clock it GaryC? The numbers you quoted on both the EX and the Banshee seem quite a little high.

i have a 2000 ex and would have to agree that it is probably low-to-mid 60's. compared to my old 250r it seems pretty slow and that clocked best at 71mph on 1000ft ice track

EXER

p.s. doubting a warrior is that fast

My dad's friend told my dad today that a 400EX has too much power and is too easy to roll and tip backwards when popping a wheelie... but yet everyone i've talked to says that they dont and dont got as much power as people claim they do???

If you need the model # for the radar gun, I can ask my police officer friend and get that info. for you. Also, are you comparing what you are reading in the mags to my actual readings or do have access to a radar gun and speaking from experience? Later!

I know on pavement the 400 will wheelie over if you hit it to hard.i've almost done it.I would rate my 400 as the best i've rode yet. Its lighter and alot more top end than my 300 or for laughs my 200 does. suspension allows to go on the roughest places and keep your speed. its usually the rider that is not capable.

It has enough power to pull a 5th gear wheelie, and if you are dumb and peg it in second and don't leave off when the front end comes up you will be picking grass out of your but crack.

If you look in the dirtwheels it clearly says that the 400EX goes 64 top speed.
