Has anybody ever used methanol on their 400EX....if so how easy is it to set up????

 

I'm setting my 440 up to run alky as we speak. I don't know if you can set stock carb for alky. I bought a FCR41 and ordered the alky kit from FTZ. The kit consisted of 5 main jets that are much larger than gas jets, a needle jet and 2 pilot jets. No carb boring was needed. You will have to take the screen out of the petcock that will allow better fuel flow. You will have to run oil in your fuel. I bought 1 gallon of Klotz UpLon and will add 1/2 oz. oil per gallon of alky. Also when you are done riding for the day you will have to purge the EX, meaning run straight gas through carb. Alky has alot of water in it and will rust things if left sitting for lenghty periods of time. You will have to change oil more often when running alky because the alky seeps past the rings and will contaminate the oil, making oil milky white.
