The race is on! 250R vs. 93 MPH Mojave

It's funny the kind of tall tales you hear out on the trails. Like this weekend I took the R out to and sumbled on a new riding area. After riding around a little bit I saw a group of people resting on their machines, mostly old ATC 200's , 110s and a quadrunner 185. I stopped by to rest and chat a bit. Everyone was gauking at my TRX commenting on how clean it was.
After a few minutes of chit chat, a kid (17 or so) asks the preverbial question "how fast does it go?". I told him about 70-75 mph. He then goes on to tell me that he knows a bike that will take mine in a drag race. I told him that this bike is set up with MX gearing but I will race anything. He goes on to tell me that his friend has brand new mojave that was clocked at 93 MPH!! I told him that was impossible. He then defends his claim by telling me the Mojave has headers put on it and that's why it's so fast.
Needless to say the 93 MPH Mojave and I have a date on Sunday.
Even better than the 93 MPH Mojave is the 137 MPH Banshee his other friend has. I wonder where these people get these numbers, notice how they are always odd numbers. I guess 137 MPH is more believable than 140 MPH.
I think motorcycle dealers are guilty of this too, I have read in this forum many times how yamaha dealers tell banshee customers that they go 100 MPH. So you figure you throw some pipes on it and a K&N and your doing 120 easy.
But honestly, I love to hear these tall tales. I'll keep you guys posted on our get together on Sunday. I just wonder if I beat him will I have a 95 MPH R.

I dunno why these boys with these small quads like my 250ex, mojaves and blasters think they have something, im gonna be honest with ya my 250EX aint got nothing compared to my 400EX and these other peoples 250R's, people need to relize just cause you have a 250, and so do they that they dont have the same power........hahah make sure you race him in 2nd, maybe then he will be able to see the back of your quad if he looks real real hard.........lol, good luck but you wont need it.

I talked to a guy once, claimed he had a Chevy Nova with the 396cid big block (OK, I know they made them and have seen several) with a 4 speed (OK) and 4:11 positraction (OK) from the factory (OK) that would rev to 8000 rpm (BS!!) and would do 120mph in the 1/4 mile right outa the box (I was wearing hipwaders by this time, Jeez that stuff was getting deep!). Then he tells me the following; he's cruising down the 22 freeway here one night doing 130mph, along comes the CHP with the red lights going, so, he says, to out run the CHP, he down-shifted the Nova to 3rd gear and stepped hard on the throttle! ran it up to 8gs and hit 4th! then went around the curve onto the 55 north going 150! I was in a boat by now! WTF? Do some people think we're as stupid as they are?
