how much do you think i will have to put in to make my 250ex go 60? i am thinking i could get one for about $3500 or so, and how much do you think i will have to pay for mods to make it go 60? or just close to 60, and have good acceleration?

if you're going to pay $3500 for a 250ex,just save a an extra $100 or 2 and get a used 400ex,or like icav said a 300ex/the 300 in stock form down hill with the wind is a good 57 mph.i know i';ve owned themand it would only take a few hundred bucks to get the 300 in the 60 mph range.

A stock 300EX goes 59mph on sea level in flat ground. The mods you would have to do on a 250EX would cost a lot of money. It would be like trying to get a 300ex run at 65-66mph. I would have to guess you would need a power kit and a complete exaust system. I'm sure you might even need more then that.

what do you guys think? i want a 250ex because of it's low maintenance shaft drive, auto clutch, but now you guys have kind of convinced me to lean towards a 400ex. do you think that the 400ex has problems w/ the chain often? i do a little mud riding, pretty much hard trail riding, and long distance trail riding, and some jumps, not that big, though. what do you all think? 400ex or 250ex? i am gonna be 15 at 4/24, and i weigh about 200 pounds, 250ex or 400ex??

I'm not knowledagble about the 250ex but to ME it seems that around your size/weight you would be much more comfortable on a 400ex, plus its a great quad that you can grow on without outgrowing it too quickly , ive had many long trail rides on a friend's 400 and i loved the way it rides and the way it handles. I know for a fact that he has had very litte from his chain, his bike is almost 2 years old, and from what i understand, the chain adjustment is very simple on the 400, i dont know about mudding ( not my thing ) , but eventually youll need/want to ride a sport bike, at least you will have experience with clutch, proper shifting, etc, etc.

just my $.02

Well, you do know that you won't be able to buy a 400EX or 250EX without your mom or somebody buying it for you. It's the law. If the dealership found out that you were 15 they would refuse the sale. Just to let you know.......... Oh by the way the 400EX goes 60-65 STOCK!

i've looked into the 300EX (my friend has one, rode many times) and a 250EX and a Warrior. I'm looking towards the warrior, it goes faster then all of them stock (ofcourse it has a bigger engine) but for the price, 200 dollars more then the 300ex, the 300ex goes 54 top speed ever tested stock, the warrior goes around 63... better buy for the buck personally.

i am kinda leaning toward a 400ex, but it doesn't have reverse. which i need for trail riding, and muddin, and the tight spots i get my self into. does the mojave have reverse? i heard that the 400ex top speed (from dirt wheels or some magazine) that the top speed on the 400ex is around 70-74. is that right?
