yea if honda come's out with a quad it would be following the trend of 600 quads which im not impressed with anyways even if honda made it i wouldn't look at it twice a hightech 450 on the other hand id look into big time

 

i'm the same way,, i'm not really into the 600 plus quads, i love the 250 and up 2stroke range and the 400 or 440 fourstroke range, i think they are plenty, and fit into pretty much any situation.

I don't know if you can call the 600+ cc quads a trend unless you are talkin about utilities. The DS 650 came out and then Yamaha thought they would be smart and try to beat it by makin it 10cc's bigger but it turns out that nobody really gives a d@mn about the &quot;big boys&quot; (I&quot;m not saying they're not good, but rather that the other companies aren't that interested). If anything is gonna be a trend, it would be the 400-440 class quads. C-dale, Zuki, the rumored YZF 426 quad, and this rumored 450. Maybe all the 400 class quads is a hint... some factory support maybe? Lets hope so.

P.S. I was in no way saying that the DS and Raptor aren't good quads. Both of them are nice and Bombardier had a good idea to make a 650.

 

I saw someone said the CR was the worst 125.
Tonight in Dallas at the SX, Honda went 1, 2, &amp; 3 in the 125 class.
No un-obtainable parts here. Honda doesn't have a factory race team in the 125 class.

Yamaha has not had a single win with their &quot;awesome&quot; 125 all year out of both the East and West series combined.

As far as points go, in the 125 class, taking the top 5, there are
3 Honda's, 1 Kawasaki, and 1 Yamaha YZ250F

In the 250 class points, taking the top 20, you will find 9 Honda's,
6 Yamaha's, 3 Suzuki's, and 2 Kawasaki's.

This has been the case since the mid 1990's so I have no idea where the magazines get a Yamaha as being the best dirtbike. Why?? Because McGrath won on one for 3 years?? Because of McGrath's success on the Yamaha was the reason everyone went to Yamaha in the first place. When you go to a local race, it's a sea of blue. You go to where the big boys play and you will find out otherwise. There are more privateers running the CR's than the other guys.

I don't see what the gripe is about power anyway. There is no man alive who can ride a 125 or 250 to it's full potential anyway.
BUT there is no way that a magazine's &quot;review&quot; of a bike plays any role in the real world outcome of how a machine is going to perform. Same thing goes for the quad magazines.

 

I agree with knowsalot! Stock cr 125 and 250 are plenty fast. Guys putting pipes and rejetting them are just kidding themselves! I'll tell you honda was and still is the best bike money can buy, as a matter of fact I'd rather push a Honda than to ride the rest.As for the new ATV&quot;S I don't know about them, I've got me a 1986 ATC 350X, that I've outrun several 400ex's on and they both had pipe and jet kits, so I think this is somewhat true, however in the dirtbike area, they have the meanest fastest dirtbikes that can be had, think about it, Not many bikes modified will outrun a CR 500 now will they????

 

I was with you until that CR500 statement. A KX500, which is still produced, will outrun a CR5 all day. Both are dinosaurs, both are fun, but one you can still buy new. The Honda had better handling, and the KX5 looks like hell, but you can now make your KX5 look like a new KX250 with then new tank,pipe,seat,combo. Still a lot cheaper than an AF500, but not as cool.

 

If you counted the KX 500 as faster, yes it may be in a straight line, but try to whip it around and hang with the guy on the cr500, the handling is much better, it really doesn't matter though, i guess no one really needs to go 100mph on a dirtbike anyhow.

 

Honda's are DONE with the &quot;high performance&quot; game. I will agree it is mostly numbers, as a good rider on a 400ex could outrun/race whatever a regular guy on a (insert quad of choice here), but still, it is noticable.

 

Don't get me wrong, I like Honda's, but.... Honda has not improved the product line as far as sport quads go for 16 years. You could count the 400ex I guess. That would be if you consider making a heavier,slower machine that doesn't handle as well as it's predecessor an improvement. The ex is great, but it's not R. Yamaha didn't upgrade it's sport quad till recently, but at least they had a sport quad for the last 15 years. By the way, my relic of a 01' YZ426 sure makes it seem as though honda wasted a lot of time waiting 5 years to produce a 4-stroke motocrosser. The gist of this semi-rant is that Honda is not even close to the force it used to be. This brand loyalty is one sided, we're loyal to honda...and that's it.
