I'm running 18s on my rear. I have a '86 trx250r with stock rear sprocket (38 tooth I believe) well I tried a 14 front and it was still too low. I went to a 15 and its almost right. I running 18/11/10 rear fast trekkers. They are very low profile and actually measure 17.4 inches. I think with any other true 18 inch tire the 15 front sprocket would be perfect.

Stock 86/87's came with 20" tires and 13/39 gearing. 88/89's came with the same size tires and 13/38 gearing.

I run 14/38 with 18" Holeshots for MX. For more top end you might want to go with a 15 tooth front.

try a 16 tooth front counter sprocket. a 16/39 will give you alot of top end but not alot of low end torque. try the 16 and see what it does for you. remember,by droping the front 1 tooth is like adding 3 on the rear. let us know how it goes.
