I recently read an article talking about how all the top AMA riders are switching over to some of the bigger names in Oil, like Penzoil,Castrol,& Valvoline.

For years now many have said that these names have made are quad oils and the matter has never been decided.

Anyways I recently ran some Castrol Syntec (grey Bottle) 10w-40 in my 400ex and 300 4x4 and I noticed a great improvement and when I drained the oil things seemed cleaner and alot less broken down.

Has anyone else switched over or heard any results to what this may or may not do to your motor????????

I have been running Mobil 1 15W50 in my 400ex since it was new. It was burning oil with 10 hours on it using the Honda 10W40. I switched to the 15W50 and it hasn't burned a drop since. The conventional 10W40 oil breaks down too quickly under the extreme heat in the air cooled engine. I have yet to have a single clutch problem either. Mobil 1 15W50 doesn't contain the friction modifiers that cause the clutch problems. Motor oils that are generally listed as "energy conserving" have the friction modifiers. Mickey Dunlap post some technical information on another site (exriders . com) and he even recommends Mobil 1 15W50. For some interesting reading on motorcycle oils, go to Motorcycle Oil
